On Sunday, February 21 at 2:11 pm, Tower Ladder 61 from Loveland-Symmes was dispatched on the first alarm to a reported house fire on Glen Oak Drive in the City of Mason. It should be noted that the City of Mason is also the newest member of the Northeast Fire Collaborative.
Fire and EMS apparatus from Mason, Loveland-Symmes and Deerfield Township responded. Mason Engine 51 arriving first-reporting heavy smoke and a working fire in the 2nd floor bedroom, front side of the house. Mason FD Battalion 51 (Lt Wetzel) had command of the fire and not long after that Mason Chief John Moore and his 2 Deputy Chiefs arrived.
2, 1-3/4" hose lines were stretched, the front bedroom windows were vented and the fire was quickly knocked down. The damage was fairly serious on the 2nd floor but quick work by Mason Firefighters along with LSFD and Deerfield minimized any further damage. All occupants were safely out of the house upon arrival of the fire department. LSFD Tower 61's crew provided firefighter rescue assistance stand by (RAT) as well as assisting in overhaul. LSFD personnel at the scene were Tower 61 with Lt Jon Frye, FF/PM Mike Cotton, FF/PM Brian Mayer, FF/EMT Ryan Lucas, FF/EMT Kyle Jones along with Deputy Fire Chief Billy Goldfeder who was assigned as the Incident Safety Officer.
